The

SAURIAN EDITORIAL

Cyberlizard speaks!

MAY EDITORIAL? It'll soon be June! Yes, I confess we got a bit behind with the updates this month. Still, better late than never.

Part of the delay is that we have been reading up on a number of issues relating to both reptiles and amphibians, and the wider areas of animal-human relationships as a whole. With this now underway, we hope to have a number of pages up by the end of the month dealing with these. Because these are important questions which we want to handle as fairly as possible, it is better not to rush them out and to include references rather than just having a rant, as some sites do.

I had the pleasure of visiting Berlin in the last few weeks, a beautiful city that is well worth a visit if not least for the fabulous zoo. Although no zoo is perfect, the enclosures were mostly well designed and maintained, and the aquarium house in particular (which also houses the reptiles and amphibians) was in my opinion excellent, with some very roomy terraria in which various creatures seemed to be displaying natural behaviour besides the few that were obviously watching the humans that were watching them. If you ever get the chance (and aren't against zoos in principle), do give the zoo a visit.

I know I have been saying this, but work on the geckos and monitors will be continuing. We have updated the Diplodactyline geckos with some pictures this month, and hope to add some of the African genera of the Gekkoninae. Work on the lacertids is probably a few weeks off, in all honesty, as is our putative chameleon page.

Thanks again to everyone who has sent us E-mails recently. If for any reason I haven't replied to you, please let us know and I will try to do so again.
