A look at the

Infraorder GEKKOTA - Geckos

Family DIPLODACTYLIDAE

Family DIPLODACTYLIDAE - the "Pacific" Geckos

Under the most recent classification of geckos, the diplodactyline geckos have been raised to a full family but have had several genera removed and others added through the splitting of older genera such as Oedura. are found in the range of Australian, New Zealand and New Caledonia. The subfamily included the world's largest geckos. Most of the diplodactylids lay a pair of soft-shelled eggs that lack calcite, while the rest are ovo-viviparous.

Please note that this section of the gecko pages is under revision and will be added to shortly.
